The new 30,000 sf Florida Hospital Memorial Cancer Institute opened October 11, 2010. Focusing on the total patient experience, the warm nurturing environment emphasizes compassion and healing and addresses the physical, mental and spiritual needs of each individual cancer patient. Patient spaces and flow have been planned to avoid the sense of just being a number.
The healing environment includes large windows, natural light, and natural finishes. The infusion center overlooks a man-made lake with soothing landscape features. The Institute partnered with the Daytona Beach Museum of Art & Science to incorporate art into the healing process throughout the building.
Patient convenience is a priority offering comprehensive cancer care services in one location. Radiation oncology, medical oncology, imaging, and radiosurgery are offered. An appearance center, American Cancer Society Resource Center, multi media library, café, chapel and space for clinical research and education completes the Institute.
