HuntonBrady Architects created the interior spaces of the new student services building at Hillsborough Community College’s Ybor City campus. The building was designed to meet USGBC LEED Gold Certification and includes a large number of sustainable features, such as light pollution reduction, double paned windows, low-flow plumbing, preferred parking for energy efficient cars, occupancy sensors, regionally manufactured materials with low VOCs, and maximizing daylight. A dramatic, three story lobby area serve as a gathering space for students and faculty. The student services building meets users needs in open, friendly manner with emphasis on one-stop-shopping for student services, ease-of-use and advanced technology like wireless access. The building’s light-filled interior includes spaces for admissions, records, counseling, financial aid, bookstore, dean’s office and more.
