The student services building is a 45,000 square foot, 4-story structure that blends the historic character of Ybor City with sustainable design features. Optimization of energy was paramount in the design, gaining six points for LEED. The building orientation, high performance glass, sun-shading devices and daylighting sensors aided in achieving enhanced energy efficiency. Sustainable materials include wood door material harvested from sustainable forests, recycled content carpet, and recycled content aluminum curtainwall and sunscreening devices. Low flow plumbing fixtures and water efficient landscaping were employed to reduce water usage.
