University of Florida — Biomedical Sciences Building

University of Florida — Biomedical Sciences Building  |  Gainesville, Florida
LEED Gold Certified

Noted as the first research laboratory at UF to achieve LEED Gold, this 160,000 square foot lab intensive building was an energy efficiency design challenge. In addition to optimizing the energy efficiency of the HVAC system, the design team was able to increase ventilation thereby enhancing the indoor air quality, a feat rarely achieved in Florida. Water efficiency design strategies achieved maximum LEED points for water efficient landscaping, innovative wastewater technologies, and water use reduction.  As with your campus, the micro- urban environment of campus design contributed to stormwater, development density, alternative transportation and brownfield redevelopment LEED points, thereby reducing the building’s negative impact on the environment.
