HuntonBrady’s interior design team were inspired by beloved Disney characters to create mood palettes throughout the new seven-story renovated pediatric tower and interactive lobby. The lobby features interactive activities that allow young visitors to generate jungle sounds on musical step pads and fish for virtual salmon. Elevators ascend to the pediatric “hospital within a hospital” on levels five, six, and seven. These Disney movie themed floors are designed to look like the African savannah (Lion King), an undersea world (The Little Mermaid) , a rainforest jungle (The Jungle Book) and mountains (Brother Bear). All rooms have views of nature which reinforce a healing environment. Infection control is a priority with dedicated family visitor hand wash units in waiting rooms. A family lounge has wireless internet access and an LCD television connected to the hospital’s “Get Well Network.”
