Description:
The Intern Architect II assists in the preparation of varied design and production documentation for architectural projects. This is an intermediate level position and relies upon instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
Responsibilities:
General Duties:
Produces high quality and accurate production documents, including development and detailing of all phases of a project through construction documents.
Independently researches and applies standard architectural techniques and procedures to architectural assignments.
Continues to develop a thorough knowledge of drafting, detailing, building materials, codes and construction.
Specifc Duties:
Assists with programming, site development, master planning and other pre-design tasks.
Must remain flexible and able to perform a wide variety of functions, including design and production tasks.
Continues to develop knowledge of firm’s standards and drafting procedures.
Consults with manufacturers, evaluates materials and assists in architectural specifications on specific tasks, as directed.
Responsible for accurate modeling of specific aspects of a project, as directed.
Documentation of aspects, details, dimensions, notes and other technical information.
Reporting Role:
Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator or Architect, or other senior staff member.
Mentoring Role:
May review work of technical staff and Intern Architect 1.
Qualifications:
Educational Requirements: Bachelors or Masters Degree in Architecture from an accredited college or University.
Registration Requirements: Registration is not required. The Intern Architect 2 staff are expected to progress toward registration by participation in the Intern Development Program and completion of sections of the architectural examination.
Years of Experience: Approximately three to five years of experience in all phases of architecture or in a related field is expected.
Other Requirements:
Ability to work in a team environment.
Familiarity with commonly used concepts, practices and procedures in architecture, with a focus on professional growth and development.
Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
Proficient in the use of BIM modeling software (Revit) and the firms modeling standards.
Proficient in computer skills, including Newforma, Word and Excel software.
Must be willing to meet job obligations and firm’s commitments, as well as any other activity or task deemed necessary by immediate supervisor or Principals.
