OCPS Chickasaw Elementary School
HuntonBrady provided architecture services for this comprehensive remodel and addition, comprised of 41,600 SF of new construction, 14,700 SF of extensive renovation, and 14,400 SF of limited renovation. The new single-story building forms an L shape with two wings, Building 100 and Building 200. Building 100 contains administration, media center, kitchen, dining, multi-purpose, central custodial receiving/storage, a music lab, and restrooms. Building 200 consists of six kindergarten classrooms and four primary classrooms, all with adjoining restrooms. Five buildings were demolished as part of this project.
Existing Building 6 was reconfigured and extensively remodeled to house an art classroom with kiln, skills lab, resource rooms, classrooms, science lab, and public restrooms. Existing Building 7 and Portable Four-plex, and Building 8 were renovated with new paint and carpet, as well as audio enhancement and technology upgrades. These classroom buildings were also corrected for life safety and accessibility deficiencies. Special consideration was given to provide opportunities to engage students while integrating finishes and materials that are not overly stimulating.
